I grew up staying in a 2-room rental HDB flats at Cantonment Road. It has since gave way to the Pinnacle. =) Yes, very good location! Haha..
One of the thing i rem about that place is the Hillman Restaurant below the block. I think living in rental flats arld suggest that my household income is in the lower class. hee...thank God that things has change for the better.
Well..in those days, we really couldnt afford much in life. We couldnt even afford to eat at the restaurant. We could only afford to tabao fried rice or noodles from there. The overwhelming crowd every night informed me that the food there is very good but sorry...we juz couldnt afford it.
Yday, i had dinner with my family to celebrate my bday and i suggested going to the restaurant. All of them agreed at the first instance. In the morning, the thought of eating there brought tears to my eyes. It's like...my family has really gone a long way from being unable to afford food there to now my sister and bro-in-law running their own business.
So we went....

Dont ask me why this branch is call manhill instead of the usual hillman...haha
sis really like the fried rice. she has liked it since she was very young.
i really like the chicken wrapped in paper
other than that...all the other dishes were way too salty!!! it's madness!!!
anyway it's not so much about how good the food is, but i believe for each of my family member, it was very significant to be able to dine there.
