what's next?

Fellow saints...pray along with me...

1. Will I be more effective as a lay leader vis-a-vis full time worker?

2. Will my lack of life experiences (esp working experience) make me less effective as a full time worker? Coz i can't relate or identify as well with the people whom I might minister to.

3. What's next after tribute? What's going to happen to me after 10 Mar 2010? Am I going back to the secular world? Or am I going to serve full time in Church?

Actually, whatever God says for point 3 auto supercede point 1 and 2. hahaha...Still, I think it's important to think thru all these. It's like....i've counted my cost and it'll give me more mileage in whichever way i'm going....

Lord, speak. Your servant is listening.

A conspiracy is going on

hmmm...i think my mum told my relatives that i switch from banking to work in church. Then...today..during our dinner gathering...the relatives...one by one came and ask me where am i working now...why quit...bank is good....blah blah blah.........

It's always not easy being the minority. haha

blessed

a very nice and generous fren made my dream come true by defraying the cost of my aug taipei trip. Without her generosity, the trip will not be possible!!!!!!

*my dream is to scuba dive and/or visit taipei in 2009!*

Bang! thanks!!!!!!

Indeed God is faithful. He promised that I'll be blessed in abundance and in many ways, i am receiving in abundance.

Tribute Week 16

busy!

Lots of details to look into and need to know the very reason behind each thing I'm doing. Eg why do i want to screen this video at this time? It this the best timing to screen it? Does it flows with the items before and after it? Is there another video more suitable? Should there be an explanation before the video or after the video? Then will there be enough time? Are we overloading the congregation with too much info? Is there a need to screen the video more than once?

It's tedious but i think it's a meaningful learning journey. You know..it's like..i'm learning to make well thought through decision. Xiongz!

Very thankful for Pastor and William who has been so willing and so patient to answer many of my enquries, helping me to learn and process my thoughts.

Love to Live

I first saw this poem in Zafey's blog. Heh..got the author and title off the internet.

By: Claudia Minden Weisz

I asked God to take away my pride. And God said "No".
He said it was not for Him to take away, but for me to give up.

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole. And God said "No".
He said her spirit was whole, her body was only temporary.

I asked God to grant me patience. And God said "No".
He said patience is a by-product of tribulations. It isn't granted, it is earned.

I asked God to give me happiness. And God said "No".
He said He gives me blessings, happiness is up to me.

I asked God to spare me pain. And God said "No".
He said suffering draws me apart from worldly cares and brings me closer to Him.

I asked God to make my spirit grow. And God said "No".
He said I must grow on your own. But He will prune me to make me fruitful.

I asked for all things that I might enjoy life. And God said "No".
He said He will give me life, that I may enjoy all things.

I ask God to help me love others, as much as he loves me.
And God said "Ah, finally you have the idea!"

bad english or it's just part of our culture?

Can you guess the original word?

1. Lorti planta
2. Alisanda
3. C-klim/ ai-si-klim
4. Kali pok
5. Ku-poon

Haha...i really think language in singapore has evolved into something so unique and interesting. Truely, noone else in this world will understand what these words mean! Just that sadly, other countries can have their slang ( whom people from other nations wont understand also) and for us it's just deem as bad english...oh well..haha

If you can get all of them correct, then! you are a true heartlander too! Hahaha

Live Life to the Max

heh..had a good time with the Boys during their Mar Camp. Very thankful for the opportunity to share with them that Jesus came with the intention to let us live life to the fullest.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full - John 10:10

The thief refers to satan. I refer to Jesus.

I started by telling them about myself.

Then I went on to link up John 10:10 to the PlayMax event they will be going in the afternoon.

We had some group activities and mind you, this is an A4 piece of paper

a pleasant surprise

it totally caught me by surprise when my sis told me that she is considering that in probably 10 years time, she wants to buy a house so that we could all stay together. I didnt probe if she mean my parents only or including my future family. hahaha..it's still a long way, didnt feel the need to probe, things will probably change by then. but just the thought itself was beautiful.

A difficult day

An uncle that i like passed away this morning. He is the uncle that sees youg tau fu in chinatown. His yong tau fu is rather famous. Many foodie shows have visited his store and needless to say the queue is endless from 5am - 3pm. He suffered a fall at the store and hit his head. He was unconcious for a few days and today he left us.

I was quite close to him when i was younger. His family stayed on the 7th floor while my family stayed on the 8th floor. His house is like my playground. I will visit my cousins and nephew cousin almost every evening. He has been very kind and gentle to all of us. We drifted apart ever since i moved house. But whenever i see him during family gatherings, he never failed to ask me how am i coping in life and just being his gentle self.

He is 76 yrs old. He can eat, walk and travel tho he is not in the pink of health.

I'm goanna miss you. thanks for being a great uncle.

I'm sure many will miss you too. Things in chinatown market will never be the same again.

sister's bugging

my beloved sister kept bugging at me tt i'm putting on a lot of weight. So she recommended that i should only eat one proper meal a day. I can snack in small proportion but not a proper meal after 2pm.

She is doing that and i must yupz..she is losing weight..not the dramatic kind but each time i see her...i can see that she is losing weight.

oh well...she mentioned that the 1st 3 days will be more difficult but will get used to it after tt.

So yupz! today is my 2nd day!

my responsibility

learnt these today:

1. When working in a team, if things are done wrongly or going the wrong way but i'm not in the position to make it right, i have to say what i think is right.

If they insist on doing things the wrong way. I still have to do what is assigned to me.

That's my responsibility.

2. When something is stuck in the bureaucracy, i have to remind not push.

That's my responsibility.

Tribute week 12

Half a year has gone by and i must say the past 3 months has been a really happy one. Though there were monetary conerns and some issues here and there..but overall, i think...hee..it's been really good!

I thought i wont be able to survive with my little allowance but i did. God has certainly sent lots of His blessing through the people around me. I'm still watching movies on mondays ( tix are only 6 bucks) and eating the food that i like ( bulk of it are treats from friends!) What i needa cut down was...travelling, shopping and more high end entertainment like ktv/clubbing/plays/manicure/hair cut....which was quite managable. I'm surprised i survived. haha

quite a bit of things happened this week.
- Encounter with God during PWF
- Liang Liang went home to be with the Lord
- Led worship during cell ldr's meeting
- Attended youth alpha trg course

The youth alpha trg was a good networking oppty and eye opener for me. A chance to meet up with youth leaders of other churches outside the anglican circle. I was grouped with the hearing-impaired youth leaders, 2 of them are hearing-impaired while 2 of them are normal but learnt sign language to serve in the ministry. It's admirable. It's refreshing to watch them worship. while the rest of us were singing, they used sign language to "sing". Interestingly, it was v ministering too.
