A prayer for Elizabeth

Dear God,

Thank you that you are her God and creator
Thank you that you have made her beautiful and loving
Thank you for William, Josephine, Thaddy and many who are loving and caring for her.

Want to pray specially for her health that Lord you will give her
good eye sight, good sense of smell, hearing, touch and taste
strong muscles in her limbs
Strong and healthy organs
Clear wind pipe and good breadthing.

Also, Lord, I want to pray for her spiritual health

Her eyes will seek your face
Her ears will hear your voice
She will sense your presence
She will taste your goodness
She will hold Your hands as she journeys with You
Her feet will bring the good news of Jesus Christ to all around her
Her heart will beat your heartbeat
and you will breadth into her your Holy Spirit

Amen

I've always hope that my work will give me travel oppty, and now that i'm doing it a bit, i starting to find it a bit tiring. Hahhaa...maybe it's coz i'm travelling back to back and there's like 3 travelling in 1 month!!

Anyway, the resort is great. Tho old, they maintained it well and the area is very spacious, Very suitable for church camp. Unfortunately, my left ankle started to swell and i had be on a wheelchair while they gave us a tour of the hotel. I suggested it. I really thought it will be faster for them to wheel me than i walk. At the same time, it will give us a better understand of whether the resort is elderly friendly. It really make me more mindly of whether there are too many staircase for the elderly etc. It's amazing how God turns supposedly negative things into something positive. While it feels a bit odd to be wheel ard. haha..

me in wheelchair

like the swimming pool, think the kids will love it

COGS 50th Anniversary Lunch cum Service

23 Aug, 10am

Had to reach the venue at 8:30am. I only reach home at 1am the night before, was a wee bit sleepy. haha..

My duty was stage manager. Never done it before and was kinda nervous. Thank God for Roger who is doing this with me.

Everything went well. I thought i wont be able to eat but i ate.

To be honest, i was cant wait for the celebration to be over, coz it means that my duty for the anniversary magazine will be over as well. That's one portfolio down.

Many big shot came, archbishop, bishop, ex pastors, ex members all came to join us in celebration.

Ended at 3pm. Went to City Plaza. Haha..interesting place. Cheap. Think gotta exlpore this place more often! I had more fun shopping here than in tpe. ops!

Went to gabby house to celebrate john's bday. We played win lose or draw, charades and " I never". It was a nice way to celebrate bday. I think i will like mine to be like tt, simple and cosy.

台北

台北 19 - 22 Aug, 4D3N

It was hot hot hot! 37 degrees lor!

Haha..i have some unmatched expectation. See, this is my 1st trip to Taipei and my only impression of the people are the people that i see on variety shows. The commoners who attend the show are all like so pretty kind and so! I thought, taiwanese girls are all very pretty and dressy! Hahaha..but nah, they are pretty much the same as singaporean girls. Some are dressy while most are causally dressed. I find HK girls more dressy. hee... the food is great! there's like so many eating places and every restaurant is just so packed. Difficult to tell which restaurant is good. hahaha..thankfully, all the food that we tired was good! Our itinenary was quite standard.

Day 1: Shihlin Night Market
Day 2: Bookstore + Half day tour: Nanya Rocks & Jiufen + Taipei 101 + xmd
Day 3: Bookstore + Wufenpu + xmd
Day 4: Sat in cafe to read

We flew Jetstar! There was a 50% offer and we paid only 300plus for each of our tickets. I think buying the extra leg room for SGD20/way was one of the best decision I have made. Hahaha..totally worth it =)

we touched down at about 6:30pm. Was hoping to find some cheap transport to our hotel and TADA! there's this express bus that brings tourist to differnt destination in the city for like 7SGD, super worth it, the journey is about 45mins and it stops right outside my hotel! hee... the best part is, they provide 2 way transport, on my last day, they will also come and pick me from my hotel to the airport for another 7SGD. Wee...Sg should also consider such service. it's great!

Our hotel, tho small, is comfortable and conveniently located. We both felt that they could make the toilet smaller and have a bigger bedroom instead. Haha..

Shihlin Night Market was pretty intresting. It's big, hot, crowded and has a wide variety of stuff. The choices of food was amazing! Hahaha..the XXL chicken chop was yummy! The bubble tea was yummy! The many many kinds of snack was yummy!
Shopping wasnt really that great, the stores sell almost the same thing.

There seems to be a dog culture there, but only 3 types of dog were spotted. 1. toy poddle, 2 eh..the sausage dog, 3 Goldren retriver. They keep the dog in their shops and bring them to walk the night market.

Day 2, we woke up at 9am and went out to have our breakfast. Since we have time before our half day tour, we went to Eslite Bookstore. It's my fav shopping place in taipei! It has about 8 stories of lifestyle shopping, clothes, display items, electronic gadgets and books. It's all the nice nice pretty pretty kind. love it!! I briefly survey the place and had to go back to hotel coz our tour to jiufen is at 1pm. On the way to Jiufen, we passed by Nanya Rocks, it was a beautiful place. the rocks were in rather odd shape due to the volcanic activities years back. I TELL YOU JIUFEN IS A MUST GO WHEN YOU VISIT TAIPEI! it's such a pretty place, love the food, the street, the tea, the view. wish i had more time there man. half day tour was just not enough!!!! Meimei stayed there for 2 days and she said it was shiok!!!!

Taipei 101 looks good, but had to pay SGD20 to go up the observatory tower and hence the 2 stingy sporean decided to give it a miss and just took photos of the building. haha..we walked the surrounding area a bit and headed back to xmd for shopping coz Taipei 101 area is all the atas brand and we cant afford. hahaha..erm...again, shopping at xmd was a disappointment. nothing really interesting.

Supposed to visit museum on day 3 but it was so hot that i cant bring myself to walk outdoor. Then Jac read some info on the web saying that wufenpu closes at 8pm, so we tot they open early and decided to go there early instead. When we reach there at about 10am,we were told that the shops only open at 2pm!! and they actually close at 10pm!! See...how unrealiable internet info can be!!! So, i went back to Eslite again and spent the entire morning there. I think the amount of time spent also kinds equate to the amount of money spent. hahaha...i spent SGD100 there, bought a lomo, 3 books and many stationaries. haha..they are too pretty to resist!!! Wufenpu is their wholesale market and things there were supposedly cheaper, actually, same lor! coz we dun buy in bulk! the shop owner sell us the normal retail price. -__-
By now, my right ankle started to swell badly.. anyway shopping here is not exciting too! it's almost the same thing we saw in shihlin and xmd. hahaha... at 4pm we left and went to buy 太阳饼, a shop recommended by Jinhua. In the evening, we decided to go find Leftfoot Taipei and went to 东区. We found the shop and the surrounding area is actually quite nice, abit like haji lane. Again, things were too exp and we decided to leave. Jac continued to shop at xmd and i has to go back to hotel coz my ankle was swelling badly. On the way back to hotel. Saw singaporean singer! haha..

on the last day, i got a bit more panicky with my ankle coz the swelling is still there and i was afraid that it will affect my work on sunday. So, i tot, i better dun walk ard too much and rest my feet. So i found myself a nice cafe in xmd and sat there for a few hours before my fight took off.

Overall expenditure:

Flight + Accomon = OKS
Local transport + food = 100
Souvenir - 100
Skincare = 100
Eslite Bookstore = 100
Random shopping = 100

On the whole, i love jiufen, i love eslite bookstore, i love taiwanese tea. While taipei is great, i think i like HK more. haha..also dunnoe why. Maybe coz i watch more HK drama vis-a-vis Taiwanese drama? hence, stronger affiliation???? hahahaa...

Tribute Week 23

Think i have 3 thoughts to share.

1. Working full-time in church really has to be a calling. Without it, it's difficult to survive

2. Maybe, one should enter full-time after getting attached or married!? Haha..or else hor, all sat are taken up for work, how to go out and meet new people? aizz....whahahahahaha

3. Efficiency is something we need to work on in church. I like what I learnt about efficiency in ocbc, and that is doing things right the 1st time. While it may take longer to get it right the 1st time, but redoing it is going to take longer and costlier.

Tribute Week 22

It's a pretty exciting week. I was in Cambodia from monday to thursday. It was a recee trip between Chapel of Christ the King (CCK) and my church. We have been going on Takeo missions trip together for a few years and hope to work closer together. CCK received her new acting Vicar this year and he would like to see the Takeo Church.

Day 1: Visited RDI. Very informatibve trip. We had tour on the different projects RDI was doing. We were particularly interested in their water filtration system and odorless farming.

Just pour water into this 10USD pot and let the water filters through. In about an hour or two, TADA! You get clean drinking water!

Odorless farming! By laying the pan with a "special mix" that comprises of mostly rice husks and some other material that are readily available in Cambodia. Not only will the animal pan be odorless, at the end of about 3 months the "special mix" can be used as fertilizer! Woohoo! I am so impressed!

Visited Takeo Church

It's rainy season now and the road toward the village church is really muddy. The truck couldnt pass through certain part of the village with all of us in it. So! We had to walk! Hahaha...i was trying to avoid the cow dung initially but gave up half way as the mud and cow dung got more blended along the way.

Heh, out village church started to rear chickens! I saw the chicks hatching! Cute!

We also spent some time visiting the villagers and playing with the children

The next morning, we return to Phnom Penh. William and I stayed behind for another day while CCK returned to Singapore. We checked into a new hotel, Feeling Home. It's a really nice place. I like. It's pretty ideal for holiday but not so for mission trip as there are cheaper hotels around and there's only 9 rooms in this small hotel. Haha..we paid 40USD/room.

Quite nice right? heh..

totally caught me off guard

I heard a shocking news today.

I dunnoe how to react.

I am shocked, speechless, disappointed.

I didnt expect it to come from them.

I thought I have given them more than enough time.

I thought they should have been more responsibile.

I dunnoe what to say to them now.

On the other hand.

I know that He is bigger than this situation.

I know that He is in control.

I know that He will provide.

I know that He is sufficient.

I know that He will make all things beautiful in His time.

Now, I just need to go to Him.

Sit down and enjoy life

A wealthy business owner from Madison Avenue in New York City was walking along the shore of a seaside community while on vacation. The CEO noticed a fisherman sitting idly by his boat, his skin tanned and weathered by the sun, wind and spray of the sea. It appeared he was not in any hurry to do anything. Curious about the fisherman's lack of activity, the vacationing entrepreneur asked:

"Why aren't you out there catching fish?"

"Because I've caught enough fish for today," he replied.
"Why don't you catch more fish than you need?" the businessman asked him.

"What would I do with them?"
"You would earn more money and buy a better boat; then you could go deeper into the ocean and catch bigger fish and purchase nylon nets to get more money. In no time you would have a fleet of boats and be rich like I am."

"The fisherman thought for a moment before asking: "Then what would I do?"

"You could sit down and enjoy life!"

"What do you think I'm doing now?" the wise, old veteran replied.

"You are blessed when you are content with just who you are - no more, no less. That is the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that cannot be bought" (Matthew 5: 5, The Message).

Nicely illustrated.
